Gary Olszewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center - Kimball Township on Dec. 19, 2025.
Gary Robert Olszewski, 78, of Marysville, Michigan, passed away on December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born March 9, 1947 in St. Clair, Michigan, the son of parents Jean and George Olszewski.
Gary graduated from St. Clair High School in 1965, then went on to join the U.S. Air Force for 4 years where he spent time in Texas, Florida, and South Korea. Afterwards, he moved back to St. Clair and worked for Chrysler, retiring in 1995.
Gary especially loved spending his time outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of the St. Clair Hunt and Fish Club, Port Huron Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 449, Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3702 and the VFW.
He loved his sports, especially Red Wings hockey and Michigan and Lions Football. If you were looking for Gary on the weekend, you would likely find him at Michael and Lisa's house in "his spot" on the couch. And he never missed the grandkids sporting events even though he thought watching soccer was like watching paint dry.
Gary was a great B.S.'er and he used that "skill" to mask his memory loss and dementia. He could certainly tell a story, whether it was fact or fiction.
Remaining to cherish Gary's memory are children, Lisa (Michael) Motte, Beth Shimkus; grandchildren, Elyse and William Motte, Therese, Anna Mary, Veronica, and Theodora Shimkus; brother, Richard (Bonnie) Olszewski; former wife, Mary (Lenny) Brown; brother-in-law, Paul (Deb) Pawlosky and several nieces and nephews. In addition his dear friend Danny Sayers who was his fishing buddy and frequent visitor to Dad even on his final day.
Preceding Gary in death are parents, George Olszewski and Jean Werner Olszewski; brother-in-law, Dick Pawlosky and several aunts and uncles.
Gary's family would like to thank the staff at Marwood Bridgeport North, especially Nikki, Alicia, Marlene, Tamika, Julie and Virginia. And to the staff of Blue Water Hospice Home, Jessica, Barb and Tiffany. All of them made this journey with Dad comfortable and peaceful.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Blue Water Home Care and Hospice or Marwood Nursing and Rehab, which are both vital non profits in our community.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center, 4521 Ravenswood Rd, Kimball MI, with a service immediately following, Mary Seely will Officiate. Friends and Family are encouraged to share their stories and memories of our Dad during that time. Interment at Riverlawn Cemetery will take place privately.
