Gary Worth Moody

Gary grew up on farms and ranches in Texas and New Mexico. After graduating from St. Johns College in Santa Fe, he and a group of friends worked as 'hot shot' firefighters based in both Santa Fe and Prescott, Arizona. He later entered the MFA program at George Mason University, then entered the field of project management. He led a team in Siberia, Russia, building housing for local workers. He spoke enthusiastically about that experience saying it was like being transported back to wild west America, and he featured some of his most profound experiences there in poems.

After returning to Santa Fe, he lived with Oriana Rodman until his death. In that time, he became a licensed falconer, had three books of poetry published and eventually earned the title of Group Leader of Subcontract Technical Representatives at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

He was the son of Fred and Beryl Moody and is survived by his sister, Janet Moody.

Sometime in the future, a ceremony will take place on the Caja del Rio, where Gary spent so much time with his dogs and red-tailed hawks. Donations in his memory can be made to American Falconry Conservancy at falconryconservancy.org
