With heavy hearts yet a profound sense of gratitude for a life rich in love and joy, we announce the passing of Genevieve DeLisa on November 2nd, 2024.
Born on January 19th, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Genevieve met her beloved Thomas 70 years ago after being "pen pals" with him while he was in the Navy. She was only 15 when they began writing to each other at the encouragement of Thomas's father. They married soon after his return, getting engaged at her "Sweet 16" party. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October.
Genevieve is survived by her loving daughters, Phyllis Pafumi and Tammy, with her husband Andrew Dascoli; as well as her brother Louis and wife Joan Gancila. Genevieve's rays of light shone brightly upon her cherished grandchildren Christie with Wilson Vasquez, Ronald with Kristin Cilente, Laura with David Berkey, Jenna with Caleb Reimer, and Amanda with Jesse Crooks. She beamed with pride for her great-grandchildren Giovanni Paone; Joseph, Anthony, Liam, and Lily Cilente; Elajah & Trey Vasquez; Andrew & Sophie Berkey; Zoe, Wesley & Blake Reimer; and Bennett Crooks. Genevieve is predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Anthony DeLisa Jr., her parents Giuseppe and Filomena Gancila and her nephew, Father Joseph Gancila, and great-grandchild Justin Vasquez,
Generous in life as in love, Genevieve's memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
