Cionci, Gennaro J., passed away peacefully on October 15, 2022, at 90 years old. He is the beloved husband of 69 years of Ruth E. Cionci (nee Wickham). Loving father of Patricia (the late Michael) Christy, Jerry (Karen) Cionci, Denise (Thomas) Lewis and Thomas (Kelly) Cionci. Dearly loved Pop Pop of Michael (Jenna) Christy, Nicole (Ray) Accardo, Jerry Cionci, Meghan (Frank) Bonato, Kristen (Shawn) Steets, Mark Cionci, Tommy Lewis, Amanda Cionci and Julia Cionci, Dear GG Pop of Ava Accardo, Ray Ray Accardo, Sophia Steets, Mikey Christy, and Frankie Bonato. Gennaro was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna DeFalco and Richard Cionci.
Gennaro (Jerry) grew up in South Philadelphia and later Upper Darby. He was a 1950 graduate of West Catholic HS, during which he earned the Maxwell Award for his excellence on the gridiron. Jerry was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Jerry attended Temple University and also taught leadership courses at General Electric.
Jerry married his beautiful wife Ruth in 1953 and settled down in Northeast Philadelphia. They moved to the Woodstream section of Marlton NJ in 1964 to raise their 4 children. Here they were longtime members of St. Joan of Arc Parish where Jerry served as an usher. Jerry had a fulfilling 35 year managerial career with General Electric, retiring at the age of 55. In 1987 Jerry and Ruth moved to Holiday Village in Mount Laurel for the next 35 years. During this time Jerry enjoyed playing golf at Ramblewood Country Club, cards with the boys and traveling with his wife.
Above all, Jerry was a family man. There was nothing Jerry enjoyed more than being with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud Pop Pop who always loved attending his grandchildren's sporting, dance and school events. He admired all their accomplishments through college and careers, and was never shy to share with anyone who would listen!
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation at St Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton NJ on Friday, October 21st from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
