Obituary of George R Beaudet
George R. Beaudet, retired owner of Interstate Technical Services, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025. He was 93 years old.
George was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, one of five children of Lucien and Rose Beaudet. He grew up in Sanford, Maine, and graduated from Sanford High School. Following graduation, George proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Taconic, an Adirondack-class amphibious force command ship. His time in the Navy was a great source of pride, and he remained closely connected to his fellow shipmates, attending many Taconic reunions across the country.
In 1954, George married the love of his life, Beverly Smith. They began their journey together living in married student housing at the University of New Hampshire. Despite the challenges of being a full-time student and new parents, George and Beverly built a life filled with love, dedication, and partnership. After graduation, they settled in Burlington in 1960, where they raised their family and formed lifelong friendships with their neighbors.
George was deeply involved in the Knights of Columbus, where he participated in charitable work and community events. As a father, he was a constant source of support, always present on the sidelines and in the stands cheering on his children in their many activities and sports. His quiet encouragement and unwavering belief in his family left a lasting impact.
George was also a huge New England sports fan and especially loved the Patriots. He was a long time season ticket holder attending many games over the years as well as several Super Bowls.
Professionally, George began his career with a recruiting company, where he worked his way up to vice president. With vision and courage, he eventually founded his own business-Interstate Technical Services-a staffing firm specializing in placing engineers and draftsmen in technical roles. Under his leadership, the company grew to include offices in both Burlington and Nashua, New Hampshire. George had a gift for understanding people, solving problems, and getting things done. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave, and he took great pride in the business he built and the reputation he earned. He ran the company for over 20 years before retiring in his early 70s.
George and Beverly created a warm, loving home and a beautiful life together. They began with little but gave their children a life rich with opportunity, love, and cherished memories. In their retirement years, they would spend the Winters in Melbourne Beach, Florida. George loved the ocean and made it a tradition to rent a large house in Wells, Maine, each summer so that his children and grandchildren could come together and enjoy time as a family. In his later years, he especially enjoyed quiet day trips to Ogunquit and Wells, where he would walk the beach and reflect.
While George could be serious and reserved, those who knew him well saw his wit, his warmth, and his engaging spirit. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a veteran, and an entrepreneur. In his final years, he faced the challenges of dementia with grace, dignity, and a light that never truly dimmed.
He is now at peace and joyfully reunited with his beloved Beverly.
George was the beloved husband of the late Beverly (Smith) Beaudet who passed in 2008. He was the loving father of Gloria Sheehan & her husband Donald of Milford, NH, Gregory Beaudet of FL, Brian Beaudet & his wife Cheryl of Hudson, NH, and Shelley Rohan & her husband Steve of South Glastonbury, CT. He was the brother of Arlene Lizotte of Melrose, Eddie Beaudet of Cambridge, Claire McLoughlin of Billerica, and Lucille Knight of CA. He was the proud grandfather of Jared Sheehan, Donnie Sheehan, Jordan Sheehan, Cori Beaudet, Jaqueline Beaudet, Jessica Beaudet, Cameron Rohan, Connor Rohan, and Dylan Rohan. He was also survived by several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Haven Cemetery, 84 Bedford Street, Burlington, on Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, 320 Nevada St #201, Newton, MA 02460.
