George R. "Porky" Bleiler, also known as Porky the roofer and later in life as Porky the huxter, 84, passed away on March 27, 2025, in his daughter's Exeter Township residence.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Paul Walter and Rose (Legora) Bleiler.
Porky was a committed and diligent employee, dedicating 48 years to the construction industry with a focus on roofing. His employer and colleagues praised him for his unwavering reliability, as he never missed a day of work. Family and friends fondly recall him as a loving individual with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed testing his luck at the casino's but most importantly loved being with his friends helping them with everything they needed. He also loved his two westies sugar and sweetie and enjoyed sitting in the sun and going to the auction every week delivering produce (very cheap if not free) to his friends' homes and different establishments in the area of his home (bars and restaurants). Porky was an avid some would say extreme Phillies and Eagles fan.
He was a life-long member of the Cedar Dale Fish Club, Mohnton and Pool and Billard's League.
Porky will be missed be his loving daughter "best friend", family, friends and all who knew him.
Porky is survived by his daughter, Kim D., wife of Fred P. Greth, Exeter Township; two grandchildren, John Jr., husband of Kristy Petersen, Shillington, and Amber, wife of Matt Stokes, Shillington; and four great-grandchildren: Liliana Petersen, Miranda Petersen, Myles Stokes, and Raya Stokes.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Bleiler, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Services will be Friday, April 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private. A viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Cedar Dale Fishing Associates.
