Sending my deepest sympathies to the family of George Hamlin - a giant of New York´s banking industry, with whom I had the privilege of working closely for more than forty years. A lifelong advocate for community banking, George left an indelible mark on the industry throughout his long and storied career. Whether testifying before Congress, the courts or the Federal Reserve, his passion for fairness and common sense was unmatched. His Chairmanship of the New York Bankers Association (1992-1993) was a gift that has left many of us with unforgettable stories of his outspoken leadership and courageous dealings with many equally legendary government officials.

His smile and openness to listen are the first things that come to my mind. Most of my memories go back to the late 1990s and early few years of 21 century and every of them brought happiness and smile within me and now as thinking about them. He could penetrate within to create an enjoyable, peaceful and happy moment in every visit. My deepest condolences.
