George Schimenti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, Inc. - Trumbull on Oct. 14, 2025.
George Schimenti, age 70, of Wilton, CT, passed away on October 14, 2025.
George was born on the 6th of June in New York City to Salvatore and Carmelita.
First and foremost, he was an extraordinary father. His children, Teddy, Sarah, Lizzy, and Sofia
will always remember him as the true family man he was. He also embraced and took on as his
own his step-children, Calin, Garrett, Lily, and Mary.
George's first home was in Scarsdale, NY, where he spent his early childhood years. He
attended Brunswick School until middle school when he was then sent to Cardigan Mountain
School in Canaan, NH. He absolutely loved it there! When his family later moved to Greenwich,
CT, George came home to attend high school at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, CT.
Being very athletic, George was drafted for the Soccer team for Ohio Wesleyan University,
where he was put in the position of goalie.
He was a talented builder with a keen eye for design and functionality. He obtained his real
estate license under the tutelage of Murray Mortimer, a real estate broker in Greenwich, CT.
With his company, Schimenti Land Company. George was a very outgoing person who was
bravely social, which suited his new found profession. He built high end residential homes
across Long Island, Westchester County, and Fairfield County.
Some of his projects were selling the old Fitzsimmons gas station across from the Greenwich
train station to what became Lexus of Greenwich. He sold a property on the Post Road to what
eventually became Miller Motor Cars. He purchased the defunct Oil City gas station property
across from the Hyatt in Greenwich and turned it into the extraordinarily successful enterprise
that exits there today.
George was also a skilled sailor and lover of the ocean. This passion he shared with his son,
Teddy. He enjoyed participating in handicap yacht races from American Yacht Club. On "Annie-
O", his C&C 41, George won his fair share of championships throughout Long Island Sound.
He was also a huge animal lover. He not only made friends with any pup that crossed his path,
but was the biggest fan and cheerleader to his daughters Sarah and Lizzy with their love of
horses. He had a zest for life with a personality that would fill every room he entered with love
and joy because of his presence.
George's charisma and huge heart has so many people feeling the lasting loss of his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Gennifer, as well as his children, Theodore, Sarah, Elizabeth, and
Sofia, step-children Calin, Garrett, Lily, and Mary, grandchildren Charlotte, Cody, Annie, Leah,
Noah, Cassidy, Enzo, and his brother John.
May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.

To the Schimenti Family:

We got to know George & family via a chance meeting through adjacent booths at the Post Corner Pizza Parlor in Darien in 1992. It started with our kids playing in the booths with Teddy and Sarah, followed by our meeting George and Ann. George presented as a man larger-than-life; gregarious, charming, inquisitive, animated, exuberant, passionate, engaging / loud, opinionated, challenging all rolled into one smiling package. It was the start of a human connection that would rapidly forge a friendship between our families of lasting prominence over three decades.

George lived a life on his terms, with his unique compass to guide him. Time spent with George and family was usually fun, never dull, and very often unpredictable because of George´s strong personality. Family and friends came first for George because it was what mattered. George always there for us through thick and thin, highs and lows and vice versa. He had a beautiful heart, kept hidden in an armored exterior. We will miss him greatly.

Our deepest condolences go out to George´s entire family in this loss. May flames of fond memories always light the road ahead when you require them, and may you always find yourself in the warm embrace of family and friends as you push forward without him.

We loved him and love you all! Know we are there for you if need ever you have a need.

With sincere condolences on this sad day,

The Freeman Family:
John, Nancy, Christian, John-John, and our many Springer Spaniels over the years!
