George M. Umbrell

George M. Umbrell, 79, of Willow Hill, passed away April 6, 2024, in Chambersburg Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Vickie J. (Neff) Umbrell.
Born September 6, 1944, in Willow Hill, he was a son of the late Newton A. and Grace Ann (Neil) Umbrell. He graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1963.
At age, 15 he began working for Paul E. Lehman Construction, Culbertson, and was employed with the firm for 17 years. He then went to Carl Rosenberry & Sons Lumber, Fort Loudon, until taking employment with T. B. Woods in Chambersburg where he worked for 30 years until retiring as a supervisor in 2007.
George was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church. A racing enthusiast, he enjoyed NAS-CAR and dirt track racing. He also had a collection of horse clocks which brought him much pleasure.
Surviving with his wife, Vickie, are 3 sons: G. Craig and his wife, Susan, Joe M. and his wife, Wendy and Todd S., all of Willow Hill. 4 grandchildren, Nicole, Eric, Claudia and Curtis and 2 great grandchildren, Nash and Mia. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Judy Zeigler and her husband, Larry, of Willow Hill, Darlene Swanger of Mongul and Barbara Sipes of Newville and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jody, Jewel, and Jack and 2 sisters, Violet Swank and Marlene Adams.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, after 10 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastors Darwin Goshorn and Marlin "Butch" Neil officiating.
