George L. Weldon, Jr., 91, of Owensboro, KY died on September 17, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on April 3, 1933, in Owensboro, KY to the late George L. Weldon Sr. and Anna Laura Alvey Weldon. He retired as a sales manager for Thompson Homes, Inc. after 44 years of employment. George was a veteran of the United States Air Force, with the rank of Staff Sergeant and served during the Korean War Conflict.
He was a long-time member of the Immaculate Catholic Church, Immaculate Men’s Club, and former member of the Owensboro Home Builders Association. George was a devoted husband for 67 years; and a kind, caring and generous father. He enjoyed shopping with his loving wife, travel, and ballroom dancing.
George is survived by his wonderful wife, Louise H. Weldon; his children, Laura “Red” Sandlin (married to Mark Sandlin) of Decatur, GA, David G. Weldon (married to Kathryn Weldon) of Montgomery, TX, and Lisa Weldon Phelan (late husband Jim Phelan) of Owensboro, KY; two brothers; John C. Weldon (deceased) and James Patrick Weldon of Louisville, KY.
The memorial Mass for George Weldon Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Monday September 23, 2024, at Immaculate Catholic Church with visitation starting at 9 a.m. prior to the Mass. The ennichment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery privately with his family.
