Roy “Ted” Weldon Jr.

Roy Theodore Weldon Jr., affectionately known as “Ted” to all who knew him, passed away on May 17, 2025, at a hospital in Sacramento, California, after a brave 10-month battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

Born on September 2, 1958, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Ted was the son of Roy and Loretta. His father served in the United States Air Force, which took the family to Fairbanks, Alaska during his early years. After his father’s military service ended, the family eventually found their way back to their roots in California. Throughout his life, Ted lived in many places across the state, but ultimately made his home in West Sacramento, where he and his wife raised their children and built a life filled with love and laughter.

Ted worked many jobs in the construction industry and built a career in project management. He was known for his work ethic, sharp mind, and ability to manage even the most complex projects with calm and confidence.

Ted had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in fishing, hunting, golfing, playing disc golf, and watching or talking about any sport. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor; always ready with a joke or light-hearted remark that could brighten any room or even make you blush. You could find him most evenings catch-and-releasing fish near his family home in West Sacramento; a peaceful ritual that brought him joy.

Ted was preceded in death by his father Roy Weldon, his bonus dad Myron Candido, his sister Lynda Weldon, his stepbrother Craig Candido, and his stepdaughter Monica Ellis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Weldon; his children, Jason Weldon (McKaila) and Ashley Castillo (Will); his stepdaughter Kimberly Rollins; and his grandchildren Destiny, Harper, Brooks, Angelyce, Levi, and Taylor. He also leaves behind his mother, who he loved dearly, Loretta Candido; stepbrothers Mark and Brian Candido; as well as his nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ted’s life in their own way. Whether that means casting a line, spending time in nature, sharing a favorite memory, or simply enjoying a laugh in his honor. He’s made his final ace, and we know he’s playing a smooth round on the fairways above.

Ted leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
