George Theodore Werner passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 93 years old. Mr. Werner was a longtime resident of Worcester Twp., PA. He was born in Scranton, PA on January 12, 1931 to the late John J. and Marie (nee Kaufman) Werner. George graduated from the Scranton Preparatory School, class of 1948 and completed a Bachelor's Degree of Economics in Engineering from MIT in Cambridge, MA, class of 1952. After college, George enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War on the USS Boxer before becoming an underwater Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer. He achieved Lieutenant JG status by the time he was honorably discharged. After his time in the service, George began working as an engineer for Univac in New York City, which later became Unisys from where he retired after 30 years.
George is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy C. (nee Schirra) Werner; his son, Karl E. Werner and his wife, Teresa; 3 grandchildren, Sean, Amy, and Patrick; his sister, Marjorie W. Grady; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Donald J. Werner and a sister, Grace A. Gionfriddo.
Services will be held privately for the family.
Arrangements are by Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, Trooper, PA.
