Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes & Crematory - Aransas PassGeorge Donovan Wise (Wilson), known affectionately as “Georgie,” passed away on July 17th, 2025, in Luling, Texas, at the age of 55. Born on August 19th, 1969, he grew up surrounded by the sun and surf of Port Isabelle and South Padre Island, Texas, a place that shaped his lifelong love for the ocean and the freedom it represented.
Georgie was preceded in death by his beloved mother Polly Wise, his father George David Wilson Sr., and his older brother George David Wilson Jr. He is survived by his son Jamie Wise; brothers Johnny (Betty) Wilson and Jimmy (Melissa) Wilson; sisters Joan (David Fischer) Wilson and Joni (Matt) Vick—as well as other family members and loved ones whose lives he touched.
In his youth, Georgie ventured to California, where he soaked up the sunshine, surfed the Pacific waves, and even landed a brief role in the 1980s cult classic Hard Bodies. His journey later brought him to Kerrville, Texas, before he returned to the coast he loved, settling in the Rockport–Aransas Pass area where he spent the majority of his life.
A skilled hand in construction and landscaping, Georgie was known for his hard work and easygoing nature. But it was his passions that truly defined him—sailing, boating, beach frisbee, playing music, and sharing laughter with friends and family. Whether strumming a tune or catching a wave, Georgie lived with a spirit of adventure and a heart full of warmth.
Those who knew Georgie also knew he faced challenges along his journey—moments of hardship that shaped and defined him. Through it all, he remained a soul full of light, love, and longing. We hold hope that he has now found the peace and acceptance that sometimes eluded him here on earth—an everlasting calm beyond the tides.
A memorial gathering will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 19th, 2025, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas, where friends and loved ones will come together to celebrate the life of a man who lived it fully, freely, and with love.
