George A. Yerdon, 65, of Watertown, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2025. Born August 3, 1959, in Barnes Corners, NY, he was the son of the late Melvin and Eleanor (Towles) Yerdon.
George graduated from Lowville Academy in 1977. He married Pamela Frazier, and together they had two children before their marriage ended in divorce. Pamela passed away in 2019.
George served proudly as a corrections officer for 25 years, retiring from Cape Vincent Correctional Facility in 2009. In retirement, he enjoyed camping with his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Tom, as well as cheering on the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and following NASCAR, especially Kyle Petty. George loved attending auctions and never passed up a good bargain.
Among his survivors are his two children: a son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Rebecca Yerdon of Watertown, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Matthew Vance of Watertown, NY; four beloved grandchildren, Emmett and Isaac Yerdon, and Colton and Zoey Vance; and three sisters and a brother-in-law: Norma Davenport of Illinois, Melva Evans of Indiana, and Linda and Tom Farr of Brownville, NY. George is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his daughter, Jaclyn Yerdon, two brothers, Jim and Melvin Yerdon, and two sisters, Brenda Johnson and Sandy Still. He was also predeceased by three brothers-in-law, David Davenport, Roy Evans, and Larry Still and one sister-in-law Sukey Yerdon.
