Georges-Marie Albert Guertin passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at his home in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family.
Georges was born on October 29, 1933 to Henri and Marion Guertin. He grew up in Scarsdale, New York, and Tampa, Florida. He was the oldest of three boys, Georges, Bob, and Tom. He graduated from Regis High School in Manhattan, New York, in 1951. He attended the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. After two years, he left and attended St. Mary's Seminary in Kentucky, and St. John's Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas.
After graduation, Georges enlisted in the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey from 1958 to 1959. He re-enlisted in the Army reserves in Philadelphia from 1960-1963. On April 19, 1959, he was in Philadelphia with the Army for Religious Emphasis Day. He met his wife, Kathleen Kilgallen, at the Knights of Columbus at 15th and Arch Street. They met on the steps of Convention Hall later that evening, watched a show, and fell in love.
Georges married Kathleen Kilgallen on June 4, 1960. They were blessed with six children and 65 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his five girls and one son. Georges was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church for over 30 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister and held many positions in the parish including President of the Home and School Association. He also served as President of the Home and School Association at Archbishop John Carroll High School, where his daughters attended.
Georges worked for 34 years at Wyeth Laboratories in Radnor, Pennsylvania, as the Facilities Manager. After retiring on October 1, 1994, he worked for 22 years at Veltek Corporation, a global specialty chemical manufacturer in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
Georges is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, their children, Kathleen (Mike), Georgie (John), Suzanne (Mike), Roberta (Dave), Frances (Tony), and Gerry (Jennifer). He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren. Georges was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Marion Guertin, and his brothers, Bob and Tom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church: 110 St. Elizabeth Dr., Chester Springs, PA 19425, on Friday, August 22, 2025. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 am, followed by the mass at 11 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
