Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, in New Electra Cemetery with Dr. Lonnie Stewart, Pastor of The Refuge Church in Iowa Park, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Nell will lie in state from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Nell was born November 19, 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Cecil Vernon Hodgkins and Lorene Marie Case Hodgkins.
She attended school in Electra.
Nell and Gary Gene Goforth were married January 16, 1962 in Electra, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2020.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and she loved cooking for them on holidays and at family gatherings.
She worked in food service as a cook throughout her life. Nell worked at the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon. She will be remembered in the community for her delicious hamburgers at the Electra Country Club and her amazing pies at the Whistle Stop Café.
Nell enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was loved by so many in her life and will be truly missed.
She is survived by one son, Terry Don Goforth and wife, Debbie of Electra; one daughter, Sherri Jean Myers and husband, Leonard of Paradise, Texas; one son-in-law, Scott Keene of Vernon; two sisters, Beverly Baisden of Midland and Luwanna Bellah and husband, Melvin of Electra; one brother, Billy Register and wife, Deborah of Odessa; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nell was also preceded in death by one son, Brad Goforth; one daughter, Barbara Keene; one grandson, Joshua Crenshaw; and two brothers, Derral Hodgkins and Gerald Hodgkins.
