Gerald Babbie

Gerald B. Babbie, 82, of the Creek Road, Champlain, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh.
He was born in Mineville, NY on February 12, 1942, the son of Bernard and Evelyn (Beebe) Babbie.
Gerald served in the Army. He worked at the Milk Plant in Champlain, Harris Graphics, and Wyeth (Pfizer) for over 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. He loved his Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Gerald F. Babbie and his husband Danieal Barnes, William Babbie and his wife Terry, Shelley Roberts and her husband Michael, and Roxanne Downs and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Brandon McKinley, Sarah Jensen, Courtney (Kevin) Sterling, Ryan Babbie and his girlfriend Rebecca Antonakos, and Oceanna Roberts; and great grandchildren, Scarlett Bischoff, Frederick Jensen, Lenore and Reyn McKinley. His brothers and sisters, Joyce Demers and companion Jim Mesick, Bobby and Lorraine Babbie, Carol and Robert Bascombe, Elaine Eddy, Bernie and Kim Babbie, Bruce and Alice Babbie, David and Debra Babbie, Norma and John Downs, Ronnie and Paula Babbie, and Leon and Laura Babbie.
He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Evelyne Babbie, his wife of 58 years, Carmelita (St. Andrew) Babbie, his brother Dennis Babbie, and his sister Debbie Laurin.
A special thank you to all the staff on R4 and ICU at UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh for the wonderful and loving care they provided to our father.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Committal Prayers and Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Parish Cemetery. A Celebration of Gerald's Life will follow at VFW Post 1418 (Twin Bridges), Champlain, NY with Catering by Candlelight.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gerald B. Babbie may be made to Champlain EMS, 1150 State Route 11, Champlain, NY 12919.
