Gerald Slade Bourget, age 24, decided to take his own life on June 27, 2024, after struggling with depression. He was loved by his family, friends and co-workers. Gerry had a kind heart, was very thoughtful towards others, and was a whiz at solving people's problems with their electronics. He dearly loved animals, listening to his music, building intricate models, and his friend groups. He will be missed beyond measure. He resided in Maplewood, Minnesota, and was born on June 19, 2000, in Arlington, Virginia. He graduated from Hudson High School, Wisconsin, in 2018 and worked most recently for the Washington County Licensing Center in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
He is survived by his father Paul and his mother Lisa (Hudson) and sister Marie (Superior, Wisconsin). A celebration and remembrance of Gerry's life will be held at Prospect Park in Hudson on Saturday, July 13 from noon to three. Donations in his memory should be directed to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

I used to play DND with Gerry with a group of friends. He was always making jokes and keeping people on track. He made sure we all had the best night possible! He will be dearly missed by so many.

Gerry was a natural at assisting customers. He read his customers well and adjusted his communication style and approach strategically to successfully complete customer inquires and our offices business needs. His capacity to absorb the role as a Service Representative was the most advanced I have ever witnessed. His level of knowledge he acquired, retained, and utilized was incomparable to anyone I have ever worked with. I would consistently give him positive feedback how advanced he was for the short time he was compared to my experience when I first started working in a DMV environment. He received countless compliments from customers and I adored working with him. Gerry was an excellent team player and resource when a helping hand was needed. I told my supervisor the other day that every team needs a Gerry. Our team was darn lucky to have had Gerry on our team.

This photo was taken at our past friend and co-worker Tyler´s "going away to another department in Washington County department" happy hour. It was my first time socializing with Gerry outside of work. It meant a lot to Tyler that he came to support his new job! Gerry enjoyed the Blue Hawaiian he ordered (not knowing that it was happy hour) the server showed up with two He really opened up and I was fortunate to learn more about his outside of work life and interests. He incorporated stories of family dogs, his parents and sister. He truly adored his family and we bonded over shared experiences of family vacation stories.

When Gerry applied for his role in Washington County, he told a story about a time he was asked to make a heart-shaped pizza when he worked at Papa Murphy's. He told me, normally they only do that during a special season, but the customer requested it because his daughter was having heart surgery. Gerry told me he could never say no in that situation. In that moment, I knew he had a heart for people and would always take a selfless route to help those around him.
