Gerald "Jerry" Irving Bridge, of
Scottsdale, Arizona, peacefully passed away on the afternoon of January 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving children. He was 88 years old.
Born on March 14, 1937, in
Lyons, New York, Jerry was the son of Jessie and Sam Bridge. He grew up alongside his younger brothers, Max (z"l) and Jack (z"l), with whom he shared a close bond. Jerry graduated from Monroe High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Rochester, where he studied history and played varsity basketball. After college Jerry spent some time in the military.
After college, Jerry moved west to Los Angeles, where he began his career in sales. His warm personality and natural charm led him to meet the love of his life, Joyce (z"l), when he asked to borrow a book of matches from her at their apartment complex. Together, they built a life in California, raised a family, and eventually settled in Westlake Village. Later, Jerry and Joyce moved to Arizona, where Jerry concluded his career in sales, specifically selling microchips to animal shelters and military organizations. Jerry's love for animals was evident in his habit of stopping to pet every dog he encountered.
Jerry's infectious smile, tan complexion, and genuine spirit made him beloved by all who knew him. He cherished time spent with family and friends, with his greatest joy found in moments shared with his grandchildren. He also deeply enjoyed time with his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A veteran, avid golfer, reader, and traveler, he also took special pleasure in attending nearly every event in which his grandchildren participated.
Jerry is survived by his two children, Stacey (Bridge-Denzak) and Michael, son- and daughter-in-law Jeff and Casey, and his five grandchildren: Harry, Joe, Grant, Kaleb, and Cam. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty (Max's wife) and Beverly (Jack's wife), along with numerous nieces and nephews: Richard (Cindy), Robert (Becky), Jenny (John), Michael (Roxanne), Gary (Marie), Justin (Julie), Carley (Paul), and Zachary.
Jerry will be remembered as a devoted son, loving father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend. His warmth and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A private burial will be held at Cave Creek Cemetery in Carefree, and the family plans to hold a celebration of life in the coming weeks to honor Jerry's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's honor may be made to Guide Dogs of America https://www.guidedogsofamerica.org/.
