Gerald K. Curtis

Gerald K. Curtis, Sr. departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center at the age of 70.
Gerald was born on April 21, 1953, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Albert Curtis and Bernice (Davis) Curtis.
Gerald graduated from Southeast High School, Springfield in 1971. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served our country proudly and was honorably discharged from service. He was a member of the local American Legion Post #809 and worked for Business Cleaning Corporation.
Gerald loved the great outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and anything else he could associate with being outside. He also enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He met and encountered many people through his hauling business.
In addition to the outdoors, Gerald also enjoyed watching professional sports, especially NBA and NFL games. He had a great appreciation for Westerns as well.
Gerald was a kind and giving person who carried a happy and cheerful spirit. His presence here on earth will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gerald leaves to cherish his loving memories: his significant other, Darla Kincaid of Springfield; children: Mario Curtis, Gerald K. (Stephanie) Curtis, Jr., Gaylynn (Jon) Curtis, Joshua Curtis, Terrance White, Dennis (Lameika) Williams, Ashley Moore, Patrick (Sierra) Moore all of Springfield, Alfonzo Curtis of Peoria, IL and Joseph Mason of Springfield; sister, Sandra (Herbert) Dortch of Indianapolis, IN, nephew, Jarrod Dortch along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, nephew, Phillip Dortch, aunt, Viola Davis, uncle, Lacey Davis and granddaughter, Kylee Moore.
