Mineral Point – It is with great sorrow to announce, Gerald (Jerry) Herbert Ewert, age 72, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Linda, on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at their home in Mineral Point, Wisconsin.
Gerald was born on August 21, 1952 to Eugene D. Ewert and Mary Ann Kort in Wausau, WI. After Eugene's death Mary Ann married Earl Lutzke.
After graduation from Oakfield High School, he furthered his education and studied at UW Stevens Point. (Sigma Phi Epsilon). Graduated Cardinal Stritch University BBA, Business Administration Accounting-Management. University of Wisconsin-Madison Post Graduate Certificate, Product Management.
His career began at WI Power & Light/Alliant in Iola, with another career move brought him to Black River Falls as the General Manager at Black River Falls Municipal Utilities-WPPI Energies where he completed a $10M hydroelectric dam. His pride.
Jerry served on the WPPI Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Various Advisory Groups, Earned the WPPI Community Achievement Award. Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin-Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Past President. Past President Fond du Lac City Council. Past President-Mineral Point Area Development Corporation. Commissioner-Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. Member-Rotary Club, Kiwanis and Optimist Club, Knights of Columbus and Wildlife Organizations. Jerry was on the Finance Council at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen, WI
On October 12, 2013 Jerry was united in marriage to Linda (Peterson) Greenwell. Their marriage was centered around their deep Catholic Faith.
After retiring Jerry and Linda moved to their beloved "Cayuga" cabin in Cayuga, WI Jerry and Linda enjoyed their many morning and evening drives through the Chequamegon National Forest. Jerry loved grouse hunting with Linda where he drove most times and felt a sense of pride in her with every grouse she shot.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying deer hunting, bear baiting and bear hunting and fishing. He loved to journal all the animals seen on their many daily drives. Jerry especially loved deer hunting with close friends at either the Rosecky cabin, Walleye Willies or Tim's Shack. Many card games, stories and beverages were shared. Jerry loved baiting and hunting bears most. Jerry was an experienced woodworker building many items for his family and friends.
In 2022 Jerry and Linda moved to Mineral Point, WI to be closer to family and grandchildren where he loved to watch all their sporting events. Evenings found Jerry in his garage sitting in his recliner with Linda. Jerry was an avid woodworker building many items for Linda and family that are loved and cherished.
Jerry was a faithful member of St. Mary & Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda of 12 years; Daughters: Ashley (Jeff) Klinginsmith, Alison Haas, and Abbi Ewert; Linda's children: Nicholas (Melissa) Greenwell, Kristen (Lance) Erickson, Matthew Greenwell; Grandchildren: Doolin Klinginsmith, Haeden & Brady Haas, Lennon Ewert, Josena Galle; Linda's grandchildren: Marissa (Alec) Stanley, Caitlyn Erickson, Tyler Erickson and great-grandchild Lane Stanley; His siblings Tom (Carla) Ewert, Maureen (Mark) Steele; Mother of his daughters, Pam Rosesky, was further survived by other relatives and friends. Jerry was further survived by his beloved dogs, Daisy and Dekker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louann.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point, WI. Father Alec Carmel will officiate. A luncheon will follow in the Church's gathering hall, where a eulogy where Tim Lee will deliver a Eulogy in honor of Jerry. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9 A.M. - 10:55 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to: Upland Hills Health Hospice, Dodgeville, WI or Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church, Mineral Point, WI.
