Gerald W. Metcalf

Gerald W. Metcalf, age 85, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Gary was born on September 12, 1940 in Princeville, IL to Gerald A. and Irene (Wishall) Metcalf. He married Roselynn C. Shane on April 20, 1963 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2022. Also preceded him in death are his parents; his daughter-in-laws, Lori and Linda Metcalf.
Surviving are his sons, David (Li Fang) Metcalf of Peoria, IL, Robert Metcalf of Hampton, IL and Patrick (Shannon) Metcalf of Mokena, IL; and six grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, William (Carol) Metcalf of South Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gary graduated from Princeville High School in 1958 and he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served for eight years. He was a pressman for Fleming & Potter Company for 41 years, retiring in 2000 and he was a member of the Chicago Graphic Arts Union.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Fr. Martin Mwongyera will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in Gary's name may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
