Gerald "Jerry" Mason Nevins, 86, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2025.
Born January 1, 1939, to Alex and Margaret Nevins in Alpena County, Michigan-delivered in a chicken coop (the chickens had not yet moved in) by a blind doctor who arrived by horse and sleigh, driven by his nurse, during a snowstorm -Jerry had an exciting entry to the world and lived an exciting life full of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories.
He joined the Army National Guard while still in high school and went on to attend Alpena Community College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Science. Jerry met his wife, Nancy, during high school, and the two married on June 24, 1961. Together, they built a beautiful life, welcoming three children-daughters Dawn and Sheri, and son Bradley. Early in his career, Jerry worked at Besser Company in Alpena. In 1967, the family moved to Midland, Michigan, where he began his long career with Dow Chemical, retiring after 29 years.
What truly set Jerry apart was his incredible sense of humor; he loved to make people laugh. His family and friends adored his stories and antics. Jerry was always active-playing baseball, softball, bowling, golf, and snowmobiling. He enjoyed card and dice games, traveling, along with watching tennis, PBR, NASCAR, baseball, and local sports.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Nancy; his children, Dawn, Sheri (Steve) and Bradley; his sisters, Lavada and Faye; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, humor, and unwavering love for his family. Jerry's storytelling, laughter, and one-liners will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private family service will be held in his honor. The family invites you to remember Jerry by sharing a laugh, telling a good story, and treasuring time with loved ones-just as he always did.

Condolences to Nancy & Family. I will miss the many funny times that we had together. As one of the AHOWs bowling team, I remember the time that Jerry, Dick, Doug and I went to Battle Creek for the state bowling tournament. I don't think I have ever laughed that hard in my life. There were always funny times with Jerry!
