Gerald "Jerry" Francis O'Connor, 89 of West Long Branch, NJ passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2025. Jerry was born on March 7, 1936, in Philadelphia to James and Alice O'Connor. He served as an altar boy in his youth and became a lifelong, loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan. After moving to New Jersey, Jerry attended Red Bank Catholic High School, where he played football and sang in the Glee Club. He proudly served his country and later worked for Anheuser Busch for over 40 years, forming many cherished, lifelong friendships. Jerry also served as a part-time chauffeur for his grandchildren, often picking them up from school. Jerry's greatest joy in life was his family, whom he cherished above all else. He also enjoyed gardening, skiing, beach days, raising golden retrievers. A lifelong advocate for health and fitness, he was deeply committed to physical well-being and a regular presence at the gym.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his daughter, Teri, who was the apple of his eye; his son-in- law, Deane; and his grandchildren, TJ (Michelle) and Courtney (Nick). He also leaves behind five great- grandchildren: TJ, Brielle, Kaylee, Anthony, and Luca.
In accordance with Jerry's wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, he asked that his friends and
family raise a glass and toast to his memory with a martini, or libation of their choice. Those who wish may also make a donation in Jerry's memory to VNA Health Group at VNAHG.org/giving. For condolences please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
