Gerald Perdue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Nov. 4, 2024.
Gerald R. Perdue of Columbiaville, known affectionately as Jerry to his friends and family, passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 81, in Lapeer, Michigan. Born on November 17, 1942, in Bad Axe, Michigan, Jerry was a man of great character and an embodiment of the values of hard work and dedication. He proudly served in the National Guard, protecting and serving his country with honor. During his military service, Jerry dedicated many years to the Buick Motor Division plant where he retired as a respected team member of Plant 25.
On March 5, 1966, Jerry married the love of his life, Rosalee Mahaffy, in Bad Axe, Michigan. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Tammy (John) Deitering, Richard Perdue (Erica), and Stacy (Mike) Herriman. Jerry's legacy continued to grow with the addition of seven cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who all brought immense joy to his life. Jerry was a family man at heart, and his siblings held a special place in his life. He is survived by Wayne (Judy) Perdue, Phil Perdue, Kevin (Maggie) Perdue, Kathy (Bob) Brunner, Gail (Clarence) Reinke, and Shelia (Bob) Knoll. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alma (Alton) Perdue, his sister Linda Booth, and sister-in-law Angie Perdue.
A man of many interests, Jerry found solace and pleasure in the simple things in life. He was an avid farmer, taking pride in tending to the land and reaping its rewards. Boat trips were cherished moments, as were the quiet mornings spent hunting or the hours dedicated to his carpentry projects. These activities were more than hobbies; they were the threads that wove together the fabric of Jerry's life, reflecting his love for nature and creation. Those who knew Jerry would describe him as strong, selfless and wise. He had a way of offering guidance without expectation and helping others without seeking recognition. His advice was sought after, and his actions were driven by a deep sense of kindness and understanding.
Jerry's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, service, and family. His impact on those around him was profound, and the memories he created will be cherished forever. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind-a legacy of unwavering love, steadfast commitment, and the gentle strength that guided his family through the best and the toughest of times.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Jerry can be made to the Children's Miricle Network. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.

We met Jerry and Rosalie through boating and Even though we lived in the same Village, didn't see them often. We enjoyed their company and are truly sorry to hear about his death.
