PARISHVILLE -- Funeral services for Gerald A. "Jerry" Reed, 91 a resident of Parishville and formerly of Norwood, will be held at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the services in the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood. Following the services, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Norwood American Legion. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 10 a.m.until the time of the service.
Mr. Reed passed away late Saturday evening, April 12, 2025 at the home of his daughter in Potsdam. Jerry is survived by his longtime companion Janet Binan, Parishville, his three daughters, Julie and Frederick Morse, Liverpool; Robin and Steven Stone, Potsdam and Michelle and Chris Spencer, Cicero; his beloved grandchildren, Bryan and Angie Stone, Shawn and Courtney Stone, Natalie Morse, Nastassja and Kevin Eguizabal, Frederick Morse Jr. and Ryan Diana, and Jacqual "Jackie" Johnson. Jerry is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Helen Butchino, Canton as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents, his late wife Beverly, three brothers, Guy Reed Jr., Lloyd Reed and William Reed and three sisters, Altha Sawyer, Marion Newtown and Sally Reed.
Born in Parishville, NY on the family farm on the Picketville Road, on November 27, 1933, Jerry attended Parishville-Hopkinton Central School and served with the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 in Germany. He married Beverly Newton on February 18, 1956. Beverly later passed away on May 5, 2003. Jerry worked at the General Motors Plant in Massena as a Foundry Furnace Operator, retiring in 1998. In his free time, Jerry was very active in the community. He was a past member and chief of the Norwood Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of the Norwood Kiwanis Club and a lifetime and senior member of the Norwood American Legion and the Parishville Amvets. He was an avid outdoorsman who had a deep love for the family homestead in Parishville where he grew up. He loved hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his family. Memorial donations in Jerry's memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com.
