Just a few days past his 90th birthday, Gerald Weinstein (affectionately known as Jerry) passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 10, 2025. Jerry was born in the Bronx, New York on December 31, 1934. He served in the Army during the Korean War from October 6, 1954 to July 25, 1956. Upon his return to the United States, he studied and received his bachelor's degree from Adelphi University on Long Island. In 1961 he married Garyn Landis, a union that lasted for over 52 years until her death in 2014.
Jerry made a career as a salesman for Hearst Publications where he sold advertising space for various office products magazines. He was the top salesman in his region and was so valued there that he was granted permission to work from home long before that became the norm. He had a passion for music (particularly jazz) and loved to sing, often performing in bars and restaurants throughout Monmouth County and in more recent years, at Seabrook Village where he lived for seven years. Jerry was extremely popular with people. Folks would always call out "Jerry!" when he was out and about and he had a wonderful sense of humor.
Jerry is survived by his son, Myles Weinstein; his daughter-in-law Lorraine Weinstein; his two grandsons Maxwell and Harrison Weinstein; brother Larry Weinstein; sister-in-law Barbara Weinstein; brother-in-law Ron Landis; his granddaughter-in-law Alix Becq-Weinstein, Christina Weinbaum and his great grandson Julien.
