Geraldine Marie “Gerry” Casey (née Thornberry), age 93, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana.
Gerry was born on November 28, 1931, in New Castle, Indiana. Gerry lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to education and devotion to her family. She pursued her education at Ball State University, where she earned a degree and a masters in Education. This foundation led to a meaningful career as a teacher with the Anderson Community Schools Corporation before she retired.
Gerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Casey, and they were married nearly 70 years. Together they built a life centered around family and friends.
She is survived by her four children: Cris Giddens of Indianapolis; Jeff Casey and his wife Jane of Westfield; Carla Jones of Fishers; and Jay Casey and his wife Lisa of Noblesville. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Gerry enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as playing bridge, watching sports, and reading.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date. Donations may be made to Prevail Inc. of Hamilton County, 1100 S. 9th Street, Suite 100, Noblesville, IN 46060.
