Geraldine Rickenbaugh, 98, of McAlisterville, went to her heavenly home at 10:32 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at her residence.
Born on November 14, 1926, in Richfield, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late William and Susan (Hart) Arbogast. On December 11, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Ralph E. Rickenbaugh, with whom they shared more than 68 years of marriage before his passing on July 8, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Rosemary Jones and her husband Roger, Joel Rickenbaugh and his wife Joyce (Long), and Timothy Rickenbaugh and his wife Vonnie (Kratzer), all of McAlisterville; seven grandchildren, Kasi Coder, Toby Jones, Josh Rickenbaugh, Jill Neimond, Wesley Rickenbaugh, Billie Haines, and Bobbi Jo Leister; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great great granddaughters.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn A. Winey.
Mrs. Rickenbaugh was a 1945 graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville and was a licensed beautician with her own shop that served the McAlisterville area for over 35 years. Also, alongside her husband, they owned and operated the family business, Rickenbaugh's Building Supply in McAlisterville and, in earlier life, owned and operated Lost Creek Village, the area's 1st craft consignment shop, in McAlisterville.
She was a longtime member and attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Oakland Mills, where she faithfully served in many capacities.
Having a very creative side, she taught art and pottery classes to many students throughout the years. She proudly displayed her student's artwork and her own at many local carnivals and fairs.
She also enjoyed flowers, handcrafts, and trying new and different art forms. She will also be remembered for her extensive card ministry and the many years she had sent cards, newspaper clippings, and words of encouragement to family, friends, and community members.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be private in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that donations in Mrs. Rickenbaugh's memory may be made to the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 4633 Cuba Mills Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or the charity of the donor's choosing.

Geraldine was my childhood art teacher. She is a huge reason for why I ended in studying Fine Art in college and have continued to be creative to this day. It was always such a wonderful day when o received a little note from her in the mail. Always so intentional and kind.

As I celebrate her life this week, I have been feeling like I needed to create something to honor and remember her. Her hats were always such iconic parts of her style, so it seemed fitting to celebrate her fashion. I hope you enjoy this sketch created in her memory.

Rosemary, Joel, Tim and families, we are so sorry for your loss! Please know you are in our prayers. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to see your mom and talk with her at the reunion this summer! We remember that your mom and dad would often come and take us to church with them when Mom was not able to go. And, of course, we remember your mom and her hats!
