Geraldine "Chundee" Ann Silk, 74, of Ft. Yates, North Dakota, passed away, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the IHS Hospital in Ft. Yates. A private, family visitation for Geraldine will be held. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetary in Mandan, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Geraldine Ann Running Bear Silk AKA "Chundee" made her journey to the other side of camp where her loves greeted her with open arms.
Geraldine was born to Leo RunningBear and Florine Chasing Bear. She grew up being raised by Nellie Grey Hawk Chasing Bear. She was adopted by Irene House Reed of Crow Agency, MT. She received her education at the Old Agency until she went to boarding school in Flandreau, SD. Chundee worked many jobs throughout her life. She started at Sun Lodge as a waitress in Crow Agency, where she met her lifetime friend Tela Rondeaux. She worked at Sioux San in Rapid City and as a flagger in Timberlake. She became a para-professional at the Grant School in Fort Yates, before returning she worked at the Sioux County social services.
She was preceded in death by of her parents, grandmother Nellie, adopted mother Irene House Reed & two sons Travis Dean Aiden and Carl D. Claymore, and grandson Kevin White.
She is survived by one daughter Kaylene Alden of Billings, MT., two granddaughters Tanaya Renee Alden of Hardin, MT., and Tiarra Crooked of Billings, MT., four great grandchildren SaVaeh, Ruthiemae, Irie-girl, and Emerson James, sisters Pauline Ashley, Gean Brown, Yvette Grey, and Bernie Iron Eyes, brothers Delbert Cottonwood, Evertt Iron Eyes, Emerson C.B., two aunts on her dad side; LaVonne R.B., Arvendal SeaWalker, one uncle Paul Keeps Eagle, and her husband Lenhart Silk Sr.
