Geraldine "Geri" Weitzell, 84, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of October 1, 2022 at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab in Marshalltown.
A combined graveside service for Geri and her husband Gary will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery beginning at 1:00 P.M. Geraldine Ruth Grabenbauer was born on September 12, 1938 to parents George and Mary (Cleverly) Grabenbauer in Marshalltown, Iowa. She attended school in Marshalltown and later graduated from Marshalltown High School.
On July 18, 1958, Geri was united in marriage to the love of her life Gary Weitzell and they began their family in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together they had their three children, Deb, Dave, and Doug. Geri worked over the years as a friendly face at the Marshalltown K-Mart where would retire. She additionally worked for Bachmann 66 and part time at Christopher Banks.
In her free time, Geri enjoyed to work on her stitching projects, making baby blankets for the grandkids, going camping, and fishing. She loved to spend time with her family anytime she could and was known as a mom and grandma to everyone.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Deb (Mark) Warmbier and Dave Weitzell; her grandchildren, Carrie Warmbier, Cody (April) Weitzell, Tyler Weitzell, Sami Warmbier, Brittney (Brody) Fisher, and Ali (Lucas) Walker; her eight great-grandchildren; her brother Elwood "Woody" (Janet) Grabenbauer; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gary (2019); her son Doug (2015); her parents George and Mary Grabenbauer; and her sister Roberta Augustine.
