Geraldine Cecile Thibodaux Wright

Geraldine Cecile Thibodaux Wright passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 87. She was born on March 4, 1938, in Ponchatoula to the late Edna Autin Thibodaux and Pennington Emile Thibodaux, Sr., and remained a lifelong resident. Geraldine attended St. Joseph Catholic School and later Ponchatoula High School, where she was named Ms. PHS. After graduating in 1955, she continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana College.

She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, married, and sang in the choir. As a young adult, she enjoyed fishing and hunting with her father. Geraldine was one of the four Ponchatoula Betsy Ross ladies. She enjoyed traveling-especially to the mountains-photography, playing Bridge, and was known for her strawberry slushies. In 2019, she served as co-Grand Marshal of the Strawberry Festival.

Geraldine is survived by her children: William "Billy" Wright, Jr. (Christy), Brett Wright (Erin), David Wright, Jeffrey Wright (Craig Jones), and Jean "Jeanie" Wright Cutrer (Richard, Jr.). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kellsie Wright Gremillion (Nick), Monica Wright, Valerie Wright Krall (Brad), Philip Wright (Katherine), Kalley Wright LeRoy (Jared), Madeline Janney, Nicholas Wright, Gabriel Wright, Tyler Wright (Rebecca), Jacob Wright, Blaine Cutrer (Amber), Andrew Cutrer, and Kasey Kirby Hill.

Her great-grandchildren include: Luke Gremillion, Lakelyn Krall, Brinley Dunigan, Sydney LeRoy, Charlotte Wright, Beau Wright, Emma Wright, Luke Villalta, and Jake Hill. She is also survived by her sister, Emily Ann Boudreaux, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Wright, Sr.; grandson, Zachary Cutrer; and siblings, Evelyn T. Hebert and Pennington Emile Thibodaux, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue the following day, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 N 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, from 9:00 AM until the funeral mass begins at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Ponchatouloa Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
