Gerard Joseph “Cotter” Coyle, age 84, of Dushore, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
Cotter was born, September 17, 1940, in Dushore, PA, the son of the late Eugene Joseph and Elizabeth Margaret “Bessie” McKernan Coyle. He graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1958. In 1960 he married Sally Louise Bockstahler in Binghamton, NY, and they moved to Denton, TX. In Denton, he earned his BS degree from the University of North Texas. He was a highly successful agent for Northwestern Insurance.
He enjoyed playing golf as a neo-professional, and watching his grandsons play sports.
He moved back home to Dushore, PA several years ago.

And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother: James E. Coyle, of Camp Hill, PA, on January 24, 2017; and by two sisters: Ann Marie Stabryla of Dushore, PA, on June 20, 1999; and Regina Ann Coyle, of Enola, PA, on September 22, 2021; and also, a nephew, James Stabryla, of West Scranton, on March 30, 2023.
Interment will be held in St. Basil’s Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
