Gerry Eugene Dawson

Gerry Eugene Dawson, 63, of Phenix City, AL died at his home on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Monday, October 16, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Rodney Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home on Monday.
Mr. Dawson was born August 11, 1960 in Union Springs, AL, the son of Pearlis Eugene Dawson and the late Mabel Sue Roughton Dawson. He was a member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church where he enjoyed time with family and friends. Gerry was an avid hunter and fisherman always looking for an excuse to get on the water or in the woods. When not there, he enjoyed Alabama Football and gameday fun. Gerry also loved the Atlanta Braves and strumming his guitar. While these things brought him happiness, his greatest joy was his family. Time spent with his family was never enough, and he cherished every minute he spent with them.
Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Sue Dawson.
Survivors include his dad, Eugene Dawson (Carolyn); two children, Joshua "Josh" Dawson and Christolyn "Christy" Dawson (Nicholas); five sisters, Gayle Watts, Susan Arrowwood (Joe), Kelli Day (Greg), Elizabeth McWilliams (Michael) and Susan Walker; two brothers, Otto Land (Karen) and Roy Land (Christina); one precious granddaughter, Zaralee and another one on the way, Tegan; mother of his children, Susan Whatley and his best friend for all of his life, Dennis Fiquett; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
