Gertraud Stosiek, 87, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025 at her residence. She was born on September 21, 1937 in Germany to the late Max & Marguerita (Zarbock) Nieter.
Gertraud alongside her late husband, Deacon Martin Stosiek, were the owners and operators of Berkshire Pottery in Hillsdale, a family business that continues to this day. She had a passion for the artistic work that went into each piece of pottery. Her memory will live on for generations to come through each piece of her work that remains today. Being an artist, she also enjoyed the simple lifestyle. This led her to teach others about the value in having a simple life and she would often present it to groups at the church. The church was an anchor for both her and Martin’s life.
She enjoyed taking daily walks around her property and found beauty in all the area has to offer. In her later years, her home became a place for monthly meetings with the local ladies that would come to spend time and learn about Gertraud’s life. Those times and friendships will forever be cherished.
