Mr. Gilbert John “Gil” Burns, Jr., age 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gil was born on July 9, 1960, in Flint, Michigan, to Gilbert Burns, Sr. & Norma Crandall. He was raised alongside his siblings and attended Millington schools. He married Rilla Clink and together they had three children. He later married Deborah Skinner in 2018. Before retirement, Gil owned and operated his own trucking company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and tinkering in his garage. Above all, Gil loved time spent with his family as they were the most important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Burns; children: Gilbert Burns III, Amber Burns, Kris (Cristina) Clink, and Brent Maize; granddaughters, Destani Schwartz, and Destinee Barron; father, Gilbert (Linda) Burns, Sr; mother, Norma Coon; sisters: Beth, Vivian, Sandy, Ann, and Wendy; former spouse, Rilla Burns; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Gil was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Coon, and his grandparents.
A celebration of Gilbert’s life will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Millington United Methodist Church.
