Gilbert “Lawson Emmanuel Metz

Gilbert "Lawson" Emmanuel Metz, was born on October 13, 1960 to Gilbert and Louise Metz in Jackson, MS. Lawson was the youngest of 3, having a sister, Helene (Mark) and a brother, Sylvain Metz (Funda). Lawson graduated from Murrah High School in 1978. He was a member of the Mighty Murrah Mustangs marching band and the all city band. While in High School, Lawson earned his Eagle Scout rank.
Upon graduation from High School Lawson began working at European Motor Works and started college at Mississippi College where he received his Bachelors in Marketing. Lawson then began working with his family at Metz Industries as the Chief Marketing Officer.
After his parents retired and sold the family business in 2001, Lawson opened Olde Tyme Deli in Ridgeland, MS before moving his business in 2008 to Clinton.
In recent years Lawson became very involved with Shriners International where he was in line to be Potentate. Lawson took great pride in the work of the Shriners. Lawson was also a Free Mason and held the titles of Master of Circle Lodge and Mt. Salus Lodge. His son and father were also members of Circle Lodge making them the first 3rd Generation of Circle Lodge 638.
Lawson was married to his beautiful wife, Kay, of 32 years. They share 2 children, Joseph (Christina), and Caroline (Breland) who were his pride and joy. Lawson had 3 stepchildren, Matthew, Melissa Anne and Patrick, whom he also loved very much. Lawson had 4 grandchildren, Peyton, Emmie, Patrick and Blake.
As the son of a Holocaust Survivor, Lawson was always a proud and practicing Jew. Lawson spent 50 years on the Bimah at Beth Israel Congregation where he blew shofar for High Holidays with his son, Joseph.
Lawson is preceded in death by his Father (Gilbert), his mother (Francis Louise Lawson Metz), Maternal Grandmother (Georgia Lawson), Maternal Grandfather (James A Lawson), Maternal Uncle (James A Lawson, Jr), Paternal Grandfather (Sylvain Metz), Paternal Grandmother (Helene Weil Metz), Paternal Aunt (Eliane Metz.)
