Giovanni "John" Gizzi
"Loving husband, father and brother"
Mr. Giovanni "John" Gizzi, 76, of 149 Tucker Avenue passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Home of Southbury on Monday, January 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. John was the beloved husband of Antoinette (Daddona) Gizzi.
John was born in Castelmauro, Campobasso, Italy on January 20, 1948 son of the late Carmine and Chiara Felicia (Quaglia) Gizzi. He came to the United States in 1966. He was a skilled Tool Setter working for Anchor Fasteners and ITW "Illinois Tool Works" for many years until his retirement. John loved to be outdoors tending to his garden, especially his fig and fruit trees, enjoyed making wine and watching soccer. He was at his best when surrounded by family and friends, drinking his wine and enjoying his wife's cooking.
Besides his wife Antoinette of 54 years, John leaves to cherish his memory his daughters; Lisa Morgan and her husband, Bruce, of Avon and Sandra Gizzi of Oakville, his sisters; Maria DiMascia and Anna Sticca, and his brothers; Pasquale Gizzi and Angelo Gizzi. He was predeceased by his siblings; Rosa Gizzi Fagnani, Nicola Gizzi, Anna Gizzi, and Filomena Gizzi.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lutheran Home of Southbury and Waterbury Hospital Pomeroy 9, and Dr. Duarte Machado for all their compassion and kindness shown to John during his battle with Parkinson's disease.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham Street, Oakville. Anyone wishing to attend the Mass is asked to meet directly at the Church on Friday. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum in Watertown. Calling hours for Giovanni will be held Thursday evening, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
