Henry, Gladie (Koivisto)
Age 103, of Minneapolis (Crystal) passed away November 11th, 2025. Preceded in death by her parents Albert and Anna Koivisto, brothers George, Wayne, Emil and sister Ethel. She is also preceded in death by her husband LaVerne Henry. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne, grandchildren John (Michelle), Victoria (Jay), great-grandchildren Zoe, Kaia, Brylee, and Paxton and many other family and friends.
Gladie grew up in Cokato, MN on a family farm in a small farmhouse where her family resided for many years. Living on the farm taught her discipline and family values that she carried throughout her life. She grew up only knowing her family's native language of Finnish and learned English during her childhood school years. Gladie was the youngest of her 5 siblings. Having graduated from North High School she was the only sibling to get a high school degree.
After her school years, she worked for many years for GTE Sylvania where she was an Executive Secretary. Gladie purchased a four plex in the Crystal area where she lived and was the landlord until she was 90 years old. In between her landlord responsibilities she worked part time at a dental office as a receptionist for many years.
In her later years she moved to the Apple Valley/Farmington area which brought her closer to her daughter.
She was always very caring and interested in everything and everyone. She was one to always ask how you were doing or what's new. Family and friends were the most important things to her. She would always tell us to do things that make us happy. Some of the things that brought her joy were dancing, baking, games, music and celebrating holidays with her family. She lived a full and rewarding life and would want everyone to celebrate.
Funeral service is Friday, November 21st at 11 am at Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley, 7520 Golden Valley RD, Golden Valley 55427.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery.
