Glen Davidson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Aug. 12, 2024.
Glen Davidson, 72, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 29, 1952, in Crestview, Florida, Glen's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, his community, and his passions.
Glen grew up in Crestview and moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University, where he earned degrees in Geology and Applied Mathematics. A proud member of Phi Beta Kappa, he graduated with honors and went on to become a successful entrepreneur, founding two businesses, CMS Data (now Aderant) and PATLive, which together employed thousands of people over his life. His leadership and entrepreneurial achievements were nationally recognized three times on the Inc 500 list of the 500 fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States and locally where Glen was honored by the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce as Servant Leader of the year in 1999.
Beyond his professional life, Glen was a man who cherished his family and time spent on his farms, Magnolia Farm in Tallahassee and Lonesome Cypress Preserve in Liberty County. From Hoe-downs to holidays and everything in between, Glen loved a good party and was known for creating memories with friends and family at these special places. Glen's playful spirit was evident in his famous magic tricks, particularly the one where he would transform a $1 bill into a $2 bill, leaving smiles and wonder in his wake, and his larger than life personality lived out in so many countless other ways, such as his unique nickname, "Toe," which he earned after an incident where he lost a toe, "mummified" it himself, and began wearing it as a necklace on the Appalachian trail and, thereafter, anywhere Sharyn would let him. (He even went so far as to get a tattoo of a country sign above the missing toe that read "This little piggy went to market".)
Glen is survived by his loving wife, Sharyn Davidson; his sons, Austin, Tanner (Alison), and Benson Davidson (Tatum); his daughter, Kathryn Shea (Stephen); his sister, Jane Meadows (Neal); his nephew, Greg Granger (Lindsay); his niece, Julie Kritz (Kyle); and his cherished grandchildren, Lexi, Hadley, Ada, Tate, Adalind, and Wilson. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at Thomasville Road Baptist Church on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00pm with a celebration of his life to follow at the barn at Magnolia Farm, 4465 Whispering Oaks Dr. The service at Thomasville Road Baptist will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend via http://www.thomasvilleroad.org/live
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the GoFundMe supporting Lizz Bass, a new mother of triplets, and her family in their fight against her recent Sarcoma diagnosis: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-lizz-bass-in-her-fight-against-sarcoma

Glen was my mentor while working for him as I attended FSU. He and Sharyn were so kind to me and my boyfriend, now husband, Curtis. After we were married and had children we attended the annual Hoe Down at Magnolia Farm for a few years. I don't know if Glen ever realized the impact he had on my life back then but I will be forever grateful for the professional opportunity he provided and for the kindness Glen and Sharyn always showed me. Sharyn, I know your faith and family will continue to provide you strength. I will always remember Glen's smile, laughter, and kindness. Rest in peace Glen.

We had wonderful times at Glen and Sharyn´s home. How they made that wonderful sausage/corn chowder and tons of food. We enjoyed the shooting range and seeing old friends and new.
Glen and Sharyn were such giving people.
They had silent Auctions where we bid on items and all the money went to Fight Blindness. I am so very sorry for the loss of this wonderful man.

As 17 year olds we drove to Ridgecrest North Carolina to work for the summer with the Southern Baptist Convention Center there. We shared many memorable moments there but the most memorable was when we painted our full names, football jersey numbers, and our hometown name, throughout most landmarks on the Blue Ridge parkway. Soon after we returned home we got called to the school office to explain to the head of the park service, why we shouldn´t be arrested as vandals. We pled total ignorance....as we were. We were told that the only information we didn´t leave was our zip code. The ignorance of youth! I will always treasure the many good times we shared.

We became friends at Thomasville Road Baptist Church many years ago. You were teachers in Sunday School. Our daughter was in your class and loved you both. Glen will certainly be missed. Kathy Meadows
