Glenda Mae Halbrook, nee Missey, of Steelville, MO, was born on Tuesday, February 24, 1948, in Leadwood, MO, to George Washington Missey and Hazel Mae Missey, nee Witte. She passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 13 days.
Glenda attended Sullivan High School. She was later married and had a dairy farm that she had devoted much of her time to while also raising her children. Glenda was a natural caregiver and spent many years working as a Nurse's Aide at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO and Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, MO. She married Dennis Linn Halbrook, on June 30, 2001, in Timber, MO. Glenda was an avid reader and loved gardening and growing flowers. She enjoyed traveling, painting and searching for arrowheads. Most of all, Glenda loved her family and spending time with them. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel Missey; parents-in-law, Arnett and Joyce Halbrook; sister, Carol Shattock; grandson, Daniel Wheeler and 4 brothers-in-law.
Glenda is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Dennis Halbrook of Steelville, MO; children, Christine Rysted of Conway, MO, Samuel (Andrea) Mueller, Michael (Jamie) Mueller both of Steelville, MO, Jason (Jessica) Mueller of MI, John (Karen) Lockwood, Phoenicia Halbrook (fiance Adam Kuehl), Caleb (Jackie) Halbrook, Joshua Halbrook all of Salem, MO and Matthew Halbrook of Moberly, MO; siblings, Melvin (Komiko) Missey of Japan, Georgia (Albert) Blum of Bourbon, MO and Austin (Sharon) Missey of OK; brother-in-law Dean Shattock of Crocker, MO; grandchildren, Heather (Bradley) Myers, Elizabeth Robison, Sophia (Kevin) Wilbur, Ryan Roark, Brittney (Sean) Smith, Kaylee Roark, Zachery Mueller, Abigail (Kendell) Newberry, McKayla Mueller, Tyler Blankenship, Kyle Mueller and Samantha Mueller; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as Glenda's final disposition. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
