Mike shared a bond of brotherhood with many loyal friends he met throughout his life, relationships that he cherished and nurtured. Mike was blessed with true friendships -both old and new-that are a testament to his loyalty, fun-loving nature, and generosity. Mike's magnetic personality and beautiful, warm smile lit up every room he entered.
Mike simply loved fishing, and being on a boat in Louisiana waters was his passion and happy place. His childhood was spent in the marsh or on the water, hunting and fishing in Lake Charles, LA. He shared his love for the outdoors with his sons, nephews, and many friends, imparting life lessons while cleaning fish and taking care of boats after a long day fishing out of Cocodrie.
Katie's hometown of
Lake Providence, LA embraced Mike, and he loved them right back. He was deeply committed to his work at Panola, where he led with compassion, dedication, and just the right amount of humor.
Mike was devoted to his Catholic faith, and one of the most meaningful experiences in his spiritual journey was his participation in an ACTS retreat, where he found renewed faith and fellowship. Mike carried the spirit of ACTS-adoration, community, theology, and service-into his daily life, touching others with his kindness and compassion.
Above all, Mike was a strong and dedicated family man. He was so very proud of his wonderful sons, Carter and Ben, and nothing brought him more joy than being with them - coaching, fishing, hunting, and showing up for them whenever they needed him. His love for Katie (his "Busta") was the cornerstone of his life; theirs is a beautiful love story of joy, devotion and commitment to each other and the life they built together.
Family and friends will remember him always for his kindness and his laughter. He was an amazing listener, with a real curiosity about people and a genuine interest in others. Mike's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
