Gloria Jean Seals, 73, of Stamford, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
Gloria was born and raised in Hartford, the fifth child of the late Robert Lee Dillon and Anna (Reaves) Dillon, and graduated from Hartford Public High School. She worked in administrative roles at Fleet Bank, Data Prep, and later DST, where she retired in 2019. Gloria had a special gift for creating lifelong friendships wherever she went, and at each of these places, she made great friends and stayed connected with former colleagues, always celebrating their milestones and sharing life's joys and sorrows. She was a proud member of Phillips CME Church, and even after she moved away, continued to enjoy their services virtually until her final days.
Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and carried her love for family and friends throughout her life. As one of eight siblings, Gloria shared a close bond with her family and could often be heard chatting with her sisters daily. Those conversations were the heart of her routine and brought her immense joy. Gloria will be remembered as an extraordinary mother whose home was always open to her children's friends, and as a fun-loving grandmother who was adored and was so proud of her grandchildren. She was a lifelong sister, confidant, and loyal friend who believed in the importance of staying connected with those she loved. Her fighting spirit, incredible sense of humor, and the energy she brought into every room will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved children, Yolanda Seals-Coffield and her husband Eric, and Gyasi Seals and his wife Jenny. Gloria's greatest joy was being a grandmother to Sydney Coffield, Mackenzie Coffield, Dillon Seals, Anthony Hamilton, and Giovanni Hamilton, each of whom brought light and laughter into her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronald Dillon and his wife China, Theresa Harvey, Michael Dillon and his wife Deborah, and Yvonne Dillon; her sisters-in-law, who were also lifelong friends, Linda Byrd, Gwendolyn Seals, Darlene Belfour, Agnes Dillon and Joyce Dillon; she was Go-Go to her cousins; and she was affectionately known as "Auntie Glo" to countless nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and wisdom.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Dillon, James Dillon, and Stanley Dillon.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 10-11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life, 11 a.m., at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, 2500 Main St., Hartford.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
