Michael Anthony Kycia, beloved husband of the late Dorothy C. Kycia, of Cromwell, CT and formerly of Glastonbury, CT died Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 102. The second of four boys, Mike was born July 12, 1923, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Joseph J. Kycia and Prakseda (Buda) Kycia. Mike attended SS Cyril & Methodius School and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1941. Mike served his country during World War II, earning the rank of private first class. He was a member of Company C, 328th Infantry Regiment, in Patton's Third Army, Yankee Division, from 1943 to 1945. Mike participated in the Northern France and Rhineland Campaigns, for which he was awarded two Bronze Service Stars in addition to the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Upon returning, Mike graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in metallurgical engineering. Mike began his career at Pratt & Whitney where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Comstock, and the two were married February 9, 1956. In 1958, they moved to their house on Littel Acres Road in Glastonbury, following the birth of their first son. As their family grew, Mike and Dotty and family spent many wonderful summers at Glastonbury Hills Country Club and on the shores of Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, VT. After more than 30 years of service in various positions with United Technologies, Mike retired as Senior Metallurgist from Hamilton Standard in 1984. In retirement, Mike and Dotty divided their time between Glastonbury, Lake Dunmore, Naples, Florida, and Silver City, New Mexico.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Susan Barron and her husband, Cliff of Suffield, granddaughter Autumn Menard and her wife, Angie, of Porto, Portugal, Grace Bustamante of Tucson, Mickey Barron of Boston, and Andy Barron of Suffield, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
