Gordon D. Giles of Eagle passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2024 at his home. Gordon was born January 11, 1949 in Clare, Michigan to the late Dales and Cleola (Preston) Giles. Gordon graduated from Carson City High School in the Class of 1967 where he was an amazing athlete competing in several sports. Throughout his life, the love of sports continued with golf, U of M and Detroit Lions football, and racing. He looked forward to watching football on Sundays. He shared his love for the game of golf with his kids, just like his dad had shared with him. Gordon also had the opportunity, with a group of partners, to start their own business. After a few years in a warehouse setting, they went to Sheridan, Michigan and started Wright's Plastics which is still in operation today. Gordon retired from ETM in Grand Ledge as a Tooling Engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Sage); children, Chad (Juliane) Giles, Amy (Troy) Brooks, Tracy (Tony) Polega, Dick (Karen) Garvey, Rick (Sherry) Garvey, Geri Lynn (Troy) Fuller, Randy (Many) Garvey, and Amy Kohn; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcia (Dick) Pant, brother, James Giles, and twin brother, Gary (Steph) Giles along with his special cat, Max. Gordon was preceded in death by sister, Shirley George and brother, Norman and Thomas.
There is no service currently scheduled. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Share your memories and condolences online at www.holihanatkin.com

November 16, 2024

I have many fond memories of a being a kid and playing any and every kind of ball at Giles farm with Gordie, Gary, their older brothers and our mutual good friend Gene George. We went to elementary and junior high school together. I was fortunate to have played shortstop behind Gordie in little league and pony league as he snapped off the same wicked curveball he later struck me out with once in high school. Tammy and I expressed our deepest condolences. Gary Bowen
