Grace Dorothy Moyer

Grace Dorothy Moyer, of Philadelphia, passed away on July 10th, 2023 at the age of 97. She was the loving mother of Mary Ellen Ditty (the late Bob), and Eileen Bruder; devoted grandmother of Eileen Stefencavage (Ray), Brian Ditty (Jen), Kristen McCleary (John), and Casey Bruder (Shannon); loving great grandmother of Raymond, Dana, Billy, Gabby, Izzy, Cole, Kyle, Gianna, Bella, Olivia, Anthony, Paisley, Savannah, Penny, Luke, Collins, and Lawson; and cherished sister of the late Mary Robb (Bill), the late Joe Schaffner (Marie), and the late Elaine Schaffner (George). Grace was also the longtime partner of the late Jim Gilmore, and the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Grace was born and raised in the Kenningston section on Philadelphia to her parents George and Mary Ellen Schaffner. She worked for 40 years with Simkins Paper Boxes and then for 20 years with Northec. She enjoyed going to the casinos and the racetrack, and playing Bingo. Grace loved to go dance the Jitterbug with her partner Jim on Saturday nights, and going on family vacations to Wild Wood, NJ. A tradition her family had for 50 years.
Family and friends are invited to Grace's Life Celebration on Saturday, July 15th from 10 – 11 AM at St. Anselm's Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A funeral mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Grace's name to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
