Grace Chippendale Scott, 97, of Osterville, died on September 6, 2024, at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham. Grace was the beloved wife of the late William A. Scott with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. She was the sister of the late George Chippendale of Palo Alto, CA whom she loved dearly.
Grace was born on May 29, 1927, to the late George R. and Mary E. (Armour) Chippendale in Boston, MA. She grew up in Hyde Park, graduated from Hyde Park High School, and earned her bachelor's degree from Simmons College. Following her education, Grace enjoyed a long career as a secretary, working at Riverdale Elementary School and later Bay Cove/Shattuck Hospital until her retirement.
Grace was a woman of faith and was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville, MA. Her faith also encouraged a spirit of giving back to those less fortunate. In addition to her charitable work, Grace also volunteered her time for several organizations over the years including the Dedham Street Light Committee, the Osterville Garden Club, and the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Grace enjoyed staying active by walking every day, hiking Blue Hills with her beloved German Shepherd, Erica, and her lifelong friend, Dorothy O'Hara, playing tennis, and skiing. She was also an avid reader and was known to have at least 2 books in process at any given time. She was an accomplished pilot and learned to fly at 16 years old even before she learned to drive a car. More than anything, Grace is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Grace is survived by her children, Christine Sullivan and the late Richard D. Sullivan, of Osterville, MA, Elaine Willis and George Willis, of Sturbridge, MA, Robert Scott and Janet Limke, of Norwood, MA, Elisabeth Scott and the late Brad Collins, of Hyde Park, MA, and David Scott of Osterville, MA; her beloved grandchildren Jonathan Sullivan, David Sullivan, Richard Sullivan, Leigh Willis, Jason Willis, George Willis, Kyle Collins, Zuben Scott, and Deneb Scott; and her great grandchildren Henry, Eliza, Teddy, Paisley, Ryan, and June.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee. Burial will immediately follow on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne.

Grace was a friend and neighbor for many years on Swift Avenue . She was kind and would do anything for you. When I sold my house and moved , unfortunately , I lost track of her . She was an amazing woman , I envied her energy , walking 6 miles daily. She will be missed
