Albert J. Birmingham

Albert Joseph Birmingham, 92, of Monument Beach, Mass., devoted husband of the late Ann Kelleher Birmingham, died July 18, 2025.
Born February 28, 1933, in Belmont, Mass., he was the son of Albert Joseph Birmingham, Sr. and Ellen Blunt Birmingham.
Albert attended St. Patrick's Parochial School, Brockton, Mass. and Thayer Academy, Braintree, Mass. He began his college education at the University of Notre Dame. Upon the death of his father, he returned to Massachusetts and graduated from Stonehill College. He pursued an M.A. in English at Boston College and completed an M.A. in Education at Bridgewater State College.
During the Cold War, Albert was drafted and served in the US Army 339th Engineering Battalion, where he assisted in the installation of radar systems in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands.
Albert began his career teaching Latin and then English in the Brockton Public Schools. Summers on Cape Cod and upon retirement, he worked for many years at the West Falmouth and Pocassett Hardware Stores.
Albert is survived by his children Lesley Birmingham Frankel and her husband Michael of Walpole, Mass., Ellen Sykes and her husband George of Falmouth, Mass., Hugh Birmingham and his wife Debra of Falmouth, Mass. and Maura Reed and her husband Mark. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Julia Frankel and her husband Eric Pinault , Caroline Echevarria and her husband Alejandro, Daniel Frankel, Nolan Reed, Molly Sykes, Bridget Birmingham and Hannah Birmingham. Also surviving are two great grandsons, Matthew Echevarria and Oscar Pinault and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Albert is predeceased by his beloved daughter Jean and his brother James Blunt Birmingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Pocasset, MA. A brief collation will be held in the St. John Parish Hall. Burial immediately following will be private.
