Gracy B. Taylor was born a twin (Lacy) on July 25, 1949 in Marked Tree, Arkansas to Annie Mae Jackson and David Jones. Gracy moved to Chicago in 1969 after completing High School at Marked Tree High in Marked Tree, AR. She attended Dawson Skill Center where she received a Certificate in Culinary Arts.
Gracy began her Christian experience at the early age of fourteen and was baptized at Anderson Baptist Church in Marked Tree, AR. Later, Gracy transferred her membership to First Mennonite Church where she remained an active member by serving as a Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Church Choir, served on the Women's Mission Board, and cooked for the Church. Many years after God called her twin sister Lacy home, Gracy joined and became a member of Harvest of Faith Church, led by Pastor James Berry Jr.
Gracy was very quiet, calm and peaceful; however, if you knew Gracy, you knew how much she loved to tell all the stories from "back in the day." As she held the title of the Matriarch of the Taylor family, she was the one that would sit with the younger generations and tell them all about where we are from, our roots and all the fun and funny times. Gracy loved to dance and sign and she was a great cook. She is famously known for her coleslaw, spaghetti and every flavor of cake that you can think of.
Gracy and her twin sister Lacy were known to dress alike for all occasions throughout their entire lives. Lacy was the most outspoken of the two, but Gracy was the dominant twin when it came down to their wardrobe.
Gracy made her transition on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Gracy had a big heart with a lot of love for all, although she had no children of her own, she helped raise all of her aunts and uncles children.
Gracy was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae Taylor and David Jones; two sisters, Lacy Bee Taylor (her twin) and Lillian Lindsey; her brothers, David Jones Jr. and Daryl Jones and her aunt, Rosie Lee Taylor.
Gracy is survived by six sisters, Pearline Rainey, Allura Jean Grier (Tommy), Florence King, Gwendolyn Pipes, Sharon Dancy, Patricia Nelson, all of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Oh Gracy, so sorry I didn´t connect with you...as I recall days of our youth in Marked Tree... Nor did I know about Lacy. I can find hope as I imagine just how happy, Lacy, Annie May and Jessie May must be to have you " home" again. From an old bud, Tony R. Huddleston
