Grayce Coats Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home - Wetumka on Dec. 16, 2025.
Grayce Varretta Coats was born May 9, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Arthur
and Artie (Dailey) King and passed from this life at her home in Checotah on December 14, 2025 at the age of 71.

Grayce spent much of her early life in Glenpool. It was there she attended
high school. As a young lady she married Raymond Coats on March 1,
1971, in Tulsa. They first made their home in Glenpool but relocated to
several Oklahoma communities where Raymond pastored Free Will Baptist
churches. They spent some 18 years in Harrah. Most recently they made
their home in Checotah where they were called to the Westside Free Will Baptist Church.

Grayce enjoyed arts and crafts, flower gardening, scrapbooking, and
canning, but the greatest joys in her life came from spending time with her family, especially with the grandchildren!

She was preceded in death by her siblings Grover, Ryba, Jennie, and Donnie, and a great grandson Judah Cooley.

Survivors include her husband Raymond of the home; 4 children, Raychel
Ragland, and husband Heath, of Oklahoma City, Rayce Cooley, and
husband Justin, of Texas, Rayven Allen, and husband Joey, of Mead,
Oklahoma, and Raymond (Bubba) Coats, Jr. of Checotah; a brother Arthur
King of Broken Arrow; 4 sisters June Corn, and husband Frank, of Sapulpa,
Louella Lowater, and husband Terry, of Kiefer, Goldie LeForce of
Wewoka and Artie Ogle and husband Mike of Chouteau; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Public viewing will begin at the Westside Free Will Baptist Church in
Checotah at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sonny Ticer officiating.

Grandsons Brauk Breshears, Dalton Cooley, Tray Coats, Braydon Ragland, Jory Allen and Brody Coats will serve as pallbearers.

The family has requested that any floral condolences sent be in the form of live plants and not cut flowers.
